TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of section 3.4 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, companies are
required to publish a trading statement as soon as they become reasonably
certain that the financial results for the period to be reported on will be more
than 20% different from that of the previous corresponding period.
Protech is currently finalising its annual financial results for the year ended
29 February 2012 and shareholders are advised that the company expects a basic
loss per share of between 3.0 and 3.6 cents and a headline loss per share of
between 1.0 and 1.2 cents for that period, compared to earnings per share of
10.8 cents and headline earnings per share of 11.8 cents respectively for the
year ended 28 February 2011.
The group`s performance in 2012 reflected the tight operating environment which
is impacting the infrastructure and mining environments. The contracting
business unit incurred a loss, largely due to losses recognised on three
projects in Africa that the group has fully exited and accounted for in the 2012
financial year. The Readymix and Geotechnical business units were profitable for
the year under review.
The financial information on which this trading update is based has not been
reviewed or reported on by the company`s auditors.
The company`s annual financial results for year ended 29 February 2012 are
expected to be published on SENS on or about 28 May 2012.
